The Giles Ranch cow herd runs on large native and improved pastures in Clark County in southwestern Kansas, near Bucklin and Ashland. The cows are hardy, productive and prove their worth year after year with a live calf, either retained in the herd or fed for Angus-based, value-added programs. Throughout the years, the Giles Ranch cow herd has been selected for reproductive efficiency, growth and carcass traits. The herd is a high percentage Angus herd with a strong Gardiner Angus Ranch influence. The first-calf heifers and young cows are AI bred to calve in a 75-day window, beginning February 1. Our strict culling and diversified feeding experience allows us to keep heifer replacements and retain ownership on their steer mates. The steers are marketed through U.S. Premium Beef.

Since 2001, many of our young females sell in the annual Profit Proven Commercial Replacement Female Sale, held the Monday after Thanksgiving each year in Pratt, Kansas. These females represent some of the most productive genetics in the Giles Ranch herd.

In addition to our cow/calf operation, we purchase stockers to run in the fall and winter on wheat pasture and grass, when adequate moisture allows.
